Thursday 17 September- AP Lang

17 Sep

Today we continue working with the Joan Didion piece titled “On Keeping a Notebook“. First, take 5 minutes to skim the piece again, review your notes and add anything else of interest.

Next, at your table, review your assigned TWO questions. Share out the 7 questions.

In pairs- complete your assigned question from the STRATEGY AND STYLE section of the questions.

Soon (!) we will be starting to read memoirs of your choice. I have some options, but feel free to find any memoir by any author. If you would like any of the following titles, let me know: MyForbidden Face by Latifa, Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt, West of Kabul, East of New York by Tamim Ansary, While the Locust Slept by Peter Razor, The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls, Change me into Zeus’ Daughter by Barbara Moss, Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls, The Color of Water by James McBride, Rosa Lee by Leon Dash. Use Goodreads to learn more about these texts and/or find others. I found a list of “best memoirs” on Goodreads. Please have this book by Monday.

HW- Finish the corresponding worksheet found in Classroom. There are a few multiple choice questions at the end. These are written to look very similar to the AP test. Don’t forget to bring in another piece by your chosen columnist for Monday’s class.
