About taking notes…

19 Sep

During class and discussion, and particularly after class when it’s quiet and you can reflect, please make sure you are taking quality notes.

  • Take notes. You remember better when you write things down.

  • Read well, not to just get done, but to know parts well and to know where you stand on those parts

  • Use the rhetoric triangle (subject/speaker/audience) and the rhetorical appeals  (ethos/pathos/logos)

  • Use SOAPSTone (speaker, occasion, audience, purpose, syntax, and tone)

  • Use the Framework for Analysis to guide your notes.

  • Underline stuff you __________ and analyze why you ______________ it.
